General Questions
Everything you need to know about Rediscover Journeys and how we operate.
Rediscover Journeys is a boutique destination management company (DMC) based in Sri Lanka, established in 2009. We specialise in designing and operating tailor-made journeys, group tours, B2B programmes, and authentic local experiences across Sri Lanka for international travelers and trade partners.
We have been operating since 2009, giving us over 15 years of destination management expertise in Sri Lanka. Our team has deep local knowledge and longstanding relationships with suppliers, hotels, and communities across the island.
We are based in Minuwangoda, Western Province, Sri Lanka. Our registered address is No. 113, Big City, Yatiyana, Minuwangoda 11550. We also have a UK partner portal operating through rediscoverjourneys.co.uk.
We are a boutique DMC, not a large-volume operator. Every itinerary is crafted individually, with genuine attention to detail, local authenticity, and the specific interests of the traveler. We prioritise quality over quantity, responsible travel, and meaningful connections with local communities.
Booking & Planning
How to get started, what to expect, and how we build your perfect journey.
You can get in touch via our contact page, email us at [email protected], or call us directly. We will discuss your interests, travel dates, and preferences, then design a bespoke itinerary for your review. Once agreed, we handle all logistics, bookings, and ground arrangements.
Absolutely. Every journey we create is fully customisable. Whether you want to adjust the pace, add specific experiences, change accommodation, or combine destinations differently — we build the itinerary around you, not the other way around.
We recommend booking at least 4–8 weeks in advance for standard itineraries, and 3–6 months in advance for peak season travel (December to March) or complex multi-destination programmes. That said, we will always do our best to accommodate shorter notice requests.
We accept USD, EUR, GBP, and LKR. Payments can be made via international bank transfer, credit card, or other methods agreed at the time of booking.
We strongly recommend that all travelers arrange comprehensive travel insurance before departure. While we do not sell insurance directly, we can advise on what coverage is appropriate for Sri Lanka travel.
Destinations & Experiences
Where we operate, what you can see, and the kinds of experiences we curate.
We cover the entire island — from the Cultural Triangle (Sigiriya, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa) and the Hill Country (Kandy, Ella, Nuwara Eliya) to the Southern Coast (Galle, Mirissa, Yala), the North (Jaffna, Mannar), and the East (Trincomalee, Arugam Bay). No corner of Sri Lanka is out of reach.
We offer a wide range of experiences including cultural heritage tours, wildlife safaris, cycling journeys, cooking classes, village walks, tea plantation visits, Ayurveda wellness retreats, birdwatching, whale watching, and community-based encounters. Each experience is chosen for its authenticity and local depth.
Sri Lanka has two monsoon seasons, which means different parts of the island are best visited at different times. The west and south coasts are ideal from November to April. The east coast is best from May to September. The Cultural Triangle and Hill Country are accessible year-round. We can advise on the best routing based on your travel dates.
Yes. We arrange safaris to Yala, Wilpattu, Minneriya, Udawalawe, and Kumana national parks. Sri Lanka is home to the highest density of leopards in the world, as well as elephants, sloth bears, crocodiles, and hundreds of bird species. We work with responsible, licensed safari operators.
B2B & Trade Partners
For tour operators, travel agents, wholesalers, and MICE planners working with Sri Lanka.
Yes. A significant part of our business is B2B — we work with tour operators, travel agencies, wholesalers, OTAs, and MICE planners worldwide. We offer full white-label DMC services, FIT handling, group series management, FAM trips, and 24/7 on-ground support.
Under our white-label service, we operate entirely as your ground handler — all communications, documentation, and guest-facing materials carry your brand. Your clients experience your service; we manage everything on the ground. It is fully discreet and designed for long-term partnerships.
We aim to provide a full day-by-day itinerary and quotation within 48 hours of receiving your brief. For urgent requests, we can often respond faster. We also offer flexible revisions as your client's brief evolves.
Yes. We design and operate incentive travel programmes and small-to-mid-scale MICE events in Sri Lanka. We handle venue sourcing, programme design, logistics, accommodation, activities, and all ground arrangements — aligned to your brand objectives.
Simply get in touch via our partner portal at rediscoverjourneys.co.uk or email [email protected]. We will schedule an introductory call, share our trade terms and rate structures, and set up your partner account.
Responsible & Sustainable Travel
Our commitment to ethical, sustainable, and community-positive tourism.
Yes. Sustainability is central to how we operate. We prioritise low-impact travel, support local communities and artisans, avoid suppliers that exploit wildlife or damage ecosystems, and actively work to ensure that tourism generates positive outcomes for the destinations we operate in.
We do. Many of our experiences are designed to directly benefit local communities — from village-based cooking classes and craft workshops to community safaris and homestay accommodation. We believe that meaningful travel leaves a positive footprint.
We only work with licensed, ethical wildlife operators. We do not support elephant riding, captive dolphin shows, or any experience that involves animal exploitation. Our safaris are conducted responsibly, with respect for the animals and their natural habitats.
Most of our tours can be adapted for families, older travelers, and those with accessibility requirements. We will discuss your specific needs during the planning process and tailor the itinerary, accommodation, and pace accordingly.
Practical Information
Visas, health, transport, and everything practical you need before you travel.
Most nationalities require an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) to enter Sri Lanka. This can be obtained online before travel at eta.gov.lk. We recommend applying at least 2 weeks before departure. We can advise on the process based on your nationality.
We recommend consulting your doctor or a travel health clinic before visiting. Commonly recommended vaccinations include Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and Tetanus. Depending on your itinerary and duration, your doctor may also advise on malaria prophylaxis for certain regions.
We use private, air-conditioned vehicles for all transfers and touring — typically modern Toyota KDH vans or similar, driven by experienced, English-speaking chauffeur-guides. For certain experiences we also use tuk-tuks, trains, and boats as part of the experience.
Sri Lanka is generally a safe destination for tourists. As with any travel, we advise staying informed, following local guidance, and maintaining awareness of your surroundings. Our team provides 24/7 on-ground support throughout your stay and can assist with any situation that arises.
The local currency is the Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR). Major credit and debit cards are accepted at most hotels, restaurants, and larger shops. ATMs are widely available in cities and tourist areas. We recommend carrying some cash for smaller purchases and rural areas.
